The vines in the vineyard are only the beginning of all the things growing at 868! We have a garden that supplies food items to our Grandale Restaurant; we also have a peach orchard and a small fig tree area that will grow delicious items for us to use in the tasting room and restaurant.
Beyond that, we have a Monarch Garden just behind the grassy field next to the pavilion to provide food and a waystation for the Monarch butterflies as they migrate to Mexico. Did you know that it takes 2 months for a butterfly to go from Washington DC to Angangueo, Mexico? The Monarch buffet includes milkweed, coreopsis, butterfly bushes, camellia trees and verbena.
Many thanks to Inger Walker who manages our beautiful garden areas!
